About the artist
Multidisciplinary artist & founder of creativisionism
Richard Piat (Vilvoorde, Belgium, 1950) is a versatile Belgian artist: painter, sculptor, photographer and filmmaker. After his academic training and an early career in fashion and press photography, he developed an entirely personal artistic view of the world.
His body of work spans paintings, wall sculptures and spatial assemblages. At its centre lies creativisionism, the movement he shaped: art that does not merely imitate visible reality, but creates an autonomous reality out of inner imagination.
“A work of art only succeeds when it provokes a vision in people.”
For Richard, a work earns its place as long as it moves the viewer, invites reflection and opens up dialogue. Today he creates from his studio in the south of Tenerife.
